What's good everybody, welcome back to the latest Chucky's Report.
This time we are featuring an artist/musician that I have been following for quite some time now. I would like to introduce you to none other than The Atom Is Us FKA Gemiini.
He has recently made is comeback and I have to admit he did it with an absolute bang. With his newest songs 'One By One', 'Demons' and some other songs.
I will definitely do more of a feature on these in the future. However, if you would like to listen to them on the meantime I will leave links below.
For this one I would love to do a general deep into The Atom Is Us. I originally discovered his music when he was going by the moniker Gemiini. Where he dropped projects such as 'Crooked Future' and 'Modern Day Cowboy'. I've even had the honour of featuring some of his music on my 'Best Of' Mixtapes that I released via HRSUnderground.
Once he rebranded as The Atom Is Us and took his musical journey in a completely different direction. The first track I heard was 'Poison' and I have to say it was so refreshing to hear. As that time in my life I was mainly listening to rap music.
However I grew up on all types of music, so hearing a different genre from an artist I already loved and listened to regularly was awesome.
He did take some time off of music however he is well and truly back and I can guarantee he will knock it out of the park and demolish whatever song he touches. So here to the future and may it be productive and success filled.
Now we move onto my all time favourite segment, where I will be conducting an interview with The Atom Is Us to dive further into what makes the Artist who they are.
Chucky Edwards:
My first question is what got you into music originally and what made you want to change up genres?
The Atom Is Us:
I believe my interest in music originally comes from two entities in my life. The first is genetic. My grandfather was a musician his whole life, playing in bands and making solo music until very recently when he unfortunately passed away. The second, I would have to say, came from being a passenger in my Dad's car, we would drive around and he would blare music on really big speakers, and I just fell in love with the bass and the energy. My Dad, like me, has a varied music taste ranging from Dr Dre, NWA, Eminem, to Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, and so on. This I believe is where the variety in my own music came from.
Chucky Edwards:
What motivates you to make music?
The Atom Is Us:
For me it was never just a hobby, I have been working on my skills from the age of 13. I didn't have the greatest childhood, there was a lot of neglect involved. For me, music was a way of expressing myself, and to be noticed. In the beginning I would make songs to get people's attention, but as I got older I realised it meant much more to me than that.
Chucky Edwards:
If you could only describe your music using a few words, what would they be?
The Atom Is Us:
Edgy, unique, deep, catchy.
Chucky Edwards:
What has been your favourite track to work on so far and what was the reason for that?
The Atom Is Us:
Out of the tracks I have released so far, it's a tie between Heaven Sent and Demons. Demons was super satisfying because it felt like a step in the right direction of where I see myself in 5 years time. Whereas Heaven Sent felt like a hit of nostalgia. I went back to my hip hop and rap roots, but I also felt a massive improvement in my rap abilities too.
Chucky Edwards:
Moving to more general questions if you could only listen to one artist who would that be?
The Atom Is Us:
This is such a tough question. But if I could only listen to one artist for the rest of my life it would probably be Hollywood Undead. They are my guilty pleasure, and the anthem to my teenage years. They have a very special place in my heart.
Chucky Edwards:
If you were to achieve your dream collaboration which artist would this be with?
The Atom Is Us:
This depends on the type of song the collaboration would be on. It would have to be someone who would compliment my style. If I was to be doing the hook, I would say Johnny 3 Tears(Hollywood Undead). If I was doing the verses it would have to be Noah Sebastian(Bad Omens).
Chucky Edwards:
So for the final question I just want to quickly ask do you have any future plans when it comes to music?
The Atom Is Us:
Of course. There is always something going on in the background with my music. I have a few songs lined up, waiting to be worked on. However, at the moment, I am trying to complete my University work, and also be a present father and partner in my home life. Songs won't be coming out in quick succession, but they will be coming, and they will improve every time.
Chucky Edwards:
Before we finish up I’ll leave the floor open for you, is there anything else you would like to add or share?
The Atom Is Us:
Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this crazy path that I have chosen to go on. I do this for all of you that believe in me and want to see me succeed. New music will be coming, and a full length album is also in the works. I look forward to sharing it with you all. Lastly thank you to Chucky for showing me love.
I want to say a massive thank you to The Atom Is Us for answering my questions.
