My Musical Journey So Far

What's good everybody, hope you're all doing great. Thanks for coming back for a new Thoughts Of Chucky installment.

This time I want to delve a little into my journey with music so far. I have always been a massive music fan whether that be listening or the creation side of things.

My first memory of creating music comes when I was in primary school. Me and my cousin both loved music and to be honest wanted to make some money. So we decided we would write love songs for people for a few quid.

We were so serious about it too. We even created a name for the brand but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. I even remember making flyers advertising our little business that had all the details on it including prices. From what I remember we unfortunately never got round to handing these out.

This was due to us wanting to get a few songs written up so we could show people some work.

However this was a short stay for our musical adventure as life events happened and stopped us being about to peruse this.

After this I didn't fully focus on music and just did what all kids do. Play games and have fun. I did occasionally dabble in writing music but it was never anything serious.

That was until I was around 16 years old where one day I was sat in my brothers room and I was bored out of my mind. So what did I decide to do. Well I grabbed a writing pad and pen and started creating lyrics once again. If I'm being honest these lyrics were absolutely horrible.

When I first started back up with writing lyrics it was mainly romantic tracks I was writing about my now ex girlfriend. I also didn't really put time into improving my writing ability as I was juggling college, travelling to see my girlfriend and just living life.

However, just a few months before my 18th birthday my girlfriend ended things with me and I ended up dropping out of college as I genuinely hated it. It honestly felt as uf everything had fallen apart and I had no meaning. I was so down I the dumps with everything I just want to give up.

All I had left now was my music and even the content of my lyrics had become darker. On top of this i was frustrated with myself as I knew i wasn't good enough. So I watched videos, read articles and asked some of my friends for help but unfortunately that didn't help as it wouldn't click. I just didn't understand how to improve.

So I set out on a mission to find music groups on Facebook about lyrics and see if I could get advice and feedback from people. I did find a few groups but once again nothing clicked, so no advancements were made.

That was until I found a group by the name Rippin Rhymes. The would host a bunch of competitions and battles. I entered a couple competitions while asking for feedback. Thankfully this is how I Met Mrs Rhymes who would give honest feedback and explained how I could improve. Unlike other times something clicked and I took there feedback, digested it and made improvements tenfold.

Thanks to Rippin Rhymes I met so many dope artists including Lost Agnel Of Havik, Shorty Mic, Killaform and so many more. During this time they had some beef with another rap group (I won't mention names) so they were diss tracks dropping from all of the team.

Due to all of there help and kindness I wanted to show my loyalty to them at this time. So I would message the other group and just annoy them by calling them whack. Which was the truth. However due to this I was dissed in one of there tracks. Which meant i had to come back with a reply. I'll Be honest my response was horrible as I didn't know how to follow a beat and had never recorded before.

To be fair I never planned on recording music, I only ever wanted to write lyrics. It was only when I spoke with an artist called Young-Star Simo who said that I should try rapping that I actually thought why not.

At the time I was 17 and had very little money so I brought a microphone from Poundland and downloaded Mixcraft which I found through an artist called X-Pert Mercenary. I tried recording music with the microphone but the quality was really bad so didn't sound great. On top that I was horrible.

Over the next year or so I stayed on the grind of improving my lyrics and knowledge on making music in general. Over this time I recorded a freestyle and a few songs or ideas that never made the light of day. Believe these will never make light of day as I no longer have the files.

When I was 18 I got my first job which was a Christmas contract and I absolutely hated it. A plus side through from this I managed to buy my self my first proper microphone. Funny little antidote while working at that job I got in trouble for writing and nearly got fired ... oh well.

Over the next few years I worked on improving and making music. I was recording songs with my friend who goes by the name The Reaper. We released a few songs together. My favourite being 'The Murder Of I'd which featured DC. I will link this song below.

At this time I was going by the name Dj Chucky and created many friendships through music. However one thing I hadn't done was release my own song. I had release a few snippet and rough copies but never a finalised song.

I didn't release my first proper song until around December 2016. My first song I released was called 'A.N.G.E.L' and I was so proud of this track. I received a lot of praise on this song but I knew I still had a long way to go. Omce again I will link this song below.

Over the next 4 years I was working on new music and planning projects that never made the light of day. That was until 2020 when I released a FreeVerse over the legendary 'Fuck You' beat by Dr Dre. However this come back never came to fruition and once again I disappeared.

Now we're in 2024 and another 4 years have past. Over the past few years I lost and gained my passion multiple times. I always make plans for a comeback but never go through with it. I have so many great ideas which sadly don't come alive. Maybe this year will be the one where I do make a come back who knows.

I now go by the name Chucky Edwards and want to thank you for taking the time to read this. They is a few things I missed but will cover the in another blog.

If you have any questions leave them below and I may just answer them in a blog.

Have a blessed day and see you soon.
